1. With the children, peel the paper from old crayons.2. Sort the colors into a sectioned container or egg carton sections.3. Grind each color separately in a food processor and dump the shavings backinto their section.4. Place a piece of wax paper onto a cup warmer or hot plate. (If using a cupwarmer, a small piece of wax paper about the same size as the warmersection works best.) Ask a child to place a pinch at a time of shavings ontothe wax paper to make a design.5. When the child is finished, cover his design with another piece of wax paper,turn on the cup warmer or hot plate, and watch the beautiful design that iscreated as the crayon melts.6. Hang the melted crayon art in the windows of the room. Or the children cangive them as presents.More to doPlace rings of paper or doilies around the edge of the crayon designs.Cut out various shapes from the crayon designs according to your current theme,such as numbers, shapes, animals, and so on.
