Instructions
1. This easy-to-make center is perfect for reinforcing students' counting and
sequencing skills. Cut cardstock to make 11 cards approximately 2" x 3 1/2 ".
These are for the pictures of the sets 0 to 10.
2. Look through old workbooks to find 11 colored pictures of sets with a similar
theme (such as insects). For example, find an empty set for 0, one butterfly,
two ants, three moths, four beetles, five caterpillars, and so on.
3. Glue each of the pictures to a 2" x 3 1/2 " card.
4. Cut 11 more cards from cardstock approximately 3" x 3 1/2 " for the numeral
and number name cards. Write the numeral on the top of the card and the
number name underneath it. For example, "0" and "zero," "1" and "one,"
and so on.
5. Laminate both sets of cards for durability and cut out.
6. Prepare the cards for flannel board use by gluing felt to the back of each
card using rubber cement.
7. To do the activity, the child first sequences the numeral and number name
cards on the flannel board. Then she matches each corresponding set card to
the correct numeral and number name cards on the flannel board.
