Instructions

* Wash out milk jugs and cut off the
base so that you have a scoop.
* Draw a face on your scoop so that
the opening looks like a wide open
mouth.
What to Do
1. Explain there are three ways to make less trash.
* We can use less that needs to be thrown away (reduce).
* We can use things again (reuse).
* We can send them to a place that will make them into new things (recycle).
Tell the children to "gobble up" all that trash, you will make a garbage
gobbling game.
2. Give each child a scoop. Have them draw faces on their jugs, and show them
the one you drew as an example.
3. Have each child take a piece of scrap/used paper and wad it up into a ball.
4. Divide the class into pairs. Have one child from each pair drop a wad of paper
into the scoop. This child will use the scoop to throw the paper to a partner.
5. The second child will catch the paper, gobbling it up.
6. Allow the children to play for a set time, assisting as needed.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Are the children able to decorate the scoop?
* Are the children able to follow the instructions for the game?
* Are the children able to catch and throw the paper?
