Listening Game

Materials

Set of ten seasonal stick puppets numbered one to ten

Instructions

1. Ask the children to sit in a circle on the floor.
2. Walk around the outside of the circle carrying a basket of seasonal stick
puppets.
3. Stop behind one child. That child must now close her eyes, and the rest of
the children must remain quiet.
4. Hold up one stick puppet for the other children to see.
5. Make a clicking sound with your tongue (or tap your foot) the number of
times indicated on the stick puppet.
6. The designated child counts to herself and guesses the number without
opening her eyes.
7. If she guesses incorrectly, she may open her eyes and turn around to see the
correct answer. You may repeat the activity with another stick puppet for two
more tries.
8. If the child guesses correctly, the game continues until each child has had a
turn.
