seashell (from a beach or purchased)

Instructions

Author's Note: If you do not know the words to the song, "Inchworm," they
are available on the Internet.
1. Try this activity any time during the day when you have a few extra minutes.
2. The children can use markers or pens to draw a simple smiley face on the tip
of their index finger.
3. Use the beginning of the song to do actual simple math problems, for
example, 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 1+3=4, and other simple problems, using visuals
such as a blackboard, flashcards, and other props.
4. The children follow your example and crawl their "inchworm" (their index
finger) over various parts of their body (hand, wrist, arm elbow, shoulder)
More to do Dramatic Play: Children can use cut-off glove fingers and felt-tipped markers
to make an inchworm finger puppet.
