tagboard or medium card stockdie-cut balloonspocket chartcomputer or markerglue stickscissors or paper cutterlaminator

Instructions

1. Print the following four lines of the song on a piece of 8 1/2 " x 11" tagboard turned sideways:Skip count, skip count, count by fives.Skip count, skip count, count by fives.Skip count, skip count, count by fives.We can count to 50.

2. Label 10 die-cut balloons by fives, each with a different numeral from 5 to 50 (5, 10, 15, and so on).

3. Glue each balloon to a piece of 3 1/2 " x 3 1/2 " tagboard, laminate, and cut out the balloons.

4. Cut the four lines of the song into sentence strips and laminate them.

5. Hang a pocket chart at children's eye level. Place the four lines of the song in a separate pocket in the pocket chart.

6. Talk about counting by fives. Count to 50 with the children by fives (5, 10, 15, 20, and so on).

7. Have partners work together to arrange the numbered balloons in sequential order in the rows underneath the song.

8. Enjoy singing the song together using any tune. Then everyone chants the numbers 5 to 50 on each balloon.
