Instructions

1. Plan a special story-time snack to match some of your favorite books. (Check
to see if any of the children have food allergies and plan accordingly.)
2. With the children, brainstorm what kinds of snacks your favorite book characters
might enjoy. For example, Pooh Bear would love honey graham crackers;
the little boy in The Carrot Seed would like slivers of baby carrots and dip;
and Madeline would adore a thin slice of French bread and butter. You will
think of many delicious story time snacks!
3. Help the children wash their hands before story time.
4. Introduce, read, and discuss a wonderful book.
5. Explain that you will now enjoy a snack that the book's character would love.
6. Happy reading and happy snacking!
