Assorted leaves thin paper unwrapped old crayons leaf identification book
Instructions
1. Ask the children to each bring in five different leaves.
2. Show them how to place thin paper over a leaf. Demonstrate how to rub back and forth using the side of a crayon. This will leave an impression of the leaf shape and its veins.
3. Encourage the children to sort the leaf impressions by their outer shape, toothed or smooth edges, and vein structure.
4. Help them use the leaf identification book to identify the various groupings.
