Instructions

* Cut off the top of each cereal box, at a slight angle so the remaining box is
shaped like a magazine organizer.
What to Do
1. Explain to the children that when we throw
things away, they are taken to the garbage
dump. We can cut down on garbage by
recycling and reusing. The book box they
make will also help organize their rooms,
keeping their books neatly in one place.
2. Have the children trace the sides of their
boxes on the paper. Assist as needed.
3. Have them cut out the paper and glue it
onto the box, so that the clean side of the
paper faces out. Assist as needed.
4. Ask the children to use markers to put their names and other decorations on
their boxes. Now they can help keep their world and their room neat and tidy.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
* This project can be scheduled to coincide with the school book fair.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Can the child trace the box shape and cut the paper?
* Is the child able to correctly glue the paper onto the box?
* Is the child able to decorate the box?
