Tempera paint in a variety of colors

Paint cups or trays

Instructions

What to do
1. Have a conversation about tools that are used in the kitchen. Let the children touch and ask
questions about an assortment of kitchen gadgets and tools.
2. Pour the paint into cups or trays and give each child a large piece of newsprint.
3. Invite the children to paint a picture or design using the kitchen tools and gadgets. Encourage
the children to experiment and observe the different results they can achieve with various
tools.

Circle time: Brainstorm about tools used in the yard, in an office, in a factory, and other settings.
Math: Make a picture chart of tools used in various settings.
More art: Put out playdough and invite the children to use kitchen tools such as a rolling pin, garlic
