tagboard9" squares of sturdy poster board in assorted colorscrayonsscissorshole punch5" lengths of yarn or stringsmall jingle bells (or small lightweight craft items with holes for tying)
Instructions
1. Beforehand, cut out 8" numeral patterns from tagboard (1 to 9).
2. Ask the children to choose a numeral pattern. Make sure they have the correct side of the numeral facing up. Demonstrate how to trace the shape of the numeral onto a poster board square.
3. Have the children cut out the numerals.
4. Help the children punch the correct number of holes to match the numeral they chose. Show them how to punch the holes near the lower end of each numeral.
5. Tie one end of a piece of yarn securely to a jingle bell, and the other end to the hole punched in the numeral.
6. Punch two more holes near the top of the numeral and thread yarn through for hanging.
