boxes that are the same sizeassorted items to fill boxes (blocks, pencils, erasers, paper, shoes, Styrofoampieces)paperpencil

Instructions

1. Invite each of the children to select a box.

2. The children choose one type of item to put in their box (for example, all erasers).

3. When their boxes are full, the children count how many items they put in their box.

4. Have the children chart their results by drawing pictures of their boxes and writing the results beside their drawing.

5. Discuss the results. "It takes more erasers to fill the box." "It takes the same amount of pencils and pens to fill the box."
