Instructions

1. Gather the children's lunches as they come into the classroom in the
morning. Assign a child to be "lunch person."
2. Right before lunch, when everyone is hungry and restless, the lunch person
calls out names and hands out lunch boxes or bags.
3. Children will quiet down to hear their names.
4. They pick up their lunches and line up, one by one, to proceed to the lunch
table or cafeteria.
5. At the beginning of the year, young children need help identifying the
owners of the lunches. They will learn quickly. This transition increases
children's observation skills and introduces the beginning skills of speaking
before a group.
