1. This is a great activity to do at the beginning of the year because it helps
children get acquainted with each other. It also aids social development,
as shy children often find it easier to talk about another child rather than
themselves, and memory skills.
2. Ask the children to find a partner they don't know very well. Have them
sit in a circle.
3. Tell them they have two minutes to find out the other child's name and if
the child is a boy or a girl (this usually makes them laugh but sometimes
younger children are surprised at what they find out).
4. Encourage the group to sit quietly while each child takes a turn to say
something about her partner. ("My partner is a boy and his name is
Alex.")
