Instructions

1. This is a transition to use while practicing the difficult skill of galloping.
Children stand in a large circle, with or without homemade hobby horses.
2. Demonstrate how to gallop very slowly, and then invite them to gallop
slowly around the circle.
3. Sing the song below to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot" as the class gallops
around the circle. Invite the children to sing with you.
I'm a cowpoke on my horse
Doing lots of tricks, of course.
We can gallop fast; we can gallop slow.
"Round the circle, here we go.
4. Gallop to the next transition.
5. As the children improve at galloping, try variations such as setting up small
block fences to jump over.
More to do Dramatic Play: Set up blocks and red and yellow tissue paper to have a
pretend campfire. Sit around the campfire for songs and stories.
