old markers

Instructions

1. On a snowy day, read Snowballs by Lois Elhert to the children.
2. If possible, let the children go outside and dig snow into dish tubs. Bring
the tubs of snow back into the classroom.
3. Give each child markers, paint, craft sticks, buttons, and scraps of
materials. Encourage them to explore the snow and make their own
creations. Make sure they wear gloves or mittens for this activity.
4. Take photos of each child's creation.
5. Glue each photo to a piece of construction paper. Have the children
dictate a few sentences about their creations and write their words
under their photos.
6. Compile the photos into a classroom Snow Book.
7. Read the book to the children. Let them take turns bringing it home to
read with their families.
