Instructions

1. Read the story to the children.

2. Talk about all the things the worms measured in the story.

3. Show the children the inch markings on a ruler and talk about how we use inches to measure things. Count the number of inches on the ruler. Show them where the half-inch markings are as well.

4. Give the children playdough and ask them to make inchworms.

5. Put out rulers and invite the children to measure their inchworms. Ask the children questions: "Whose is the longest?" "Shortest?" "How many inches long are they?"
