Instructions

1. Unexpected transitions can really put you on the spot. Sometimes it's
difficult to respond effectively. With a little preparation, you can easily fill
those awkward empty spaces that interfere with the flow of your daily
routine. You can make your own "pocket pack" of "transition survival cards."
Here's how.
2. Write each of the following topics on a separate index card: songs, stories,
fingerplays/rhymes/chants, indoor games, and outdoor games.
3. On each card, write the titles of the activities you know by heart, such as:
Songs: BINGO, Wheels on the Bus, Old MacDonald
Stories: Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red
Riding Hood
Fingerplays/rhymes/chants: Where Is Thumbkin?; Open, Shut Them;
Grandma's Glasses
Indoor games: I Spy, Hot Potato, Guess What's Missing
Outdoor games: Duck, Duck, Goose; Red Light, Green Light; Mother May I?
4. Add to your lists as you learn new activities.
