Instructions
1. Ask the children how they would learn to pour their juice if they couldn't use their eyes tosee. Have a discussion about children who are not able to see.
2. Ask the question, "How would you know when your cup was filled with juice if you couldn'tuse your eyes?"3. Demonstrate placing your finger on the inside top of the cup while you pour water, to helpyou tell if the cup is full.
4. Place a tray with the pitcher of water and the cup on the table.
5. Blindfold a child and let her try to pour water without spilling.
6. Allow the children to continue the experiment on their own.More to doMore science: Contact a 4-H Club in your area to find out if it participates in the guide dogtraining program. If so, invite a guide dog trainer and guide dog to visit your school.Movement: Invite the children to sit in a circle around you. Ask them to close their eyes and tryto catch a pompom with a bell attached that you will throw to them. They must use their ears tohear when it is close to them. Ask them if it was easy or hard to catch the pompom withoutusing their eyes.
