Instructions

1. Set up the blocks so they stand on one end.2. Begin to drum on one block. Encourage the children to join in.3. Continue to drum as more children join the group. Encourage the children to drum using their own pattern and style.4. Drum a certain rhythm, then pause. See if the children attempt to imitate your pattern. Continue this for a few minutes.5. Encourage the children to drum a pattern for you to repeat.6. Continue until interest wanes or the children fall down in a fit of giggles!More to do:Chant with your drumbeat. As you are drumming, chant a single vowel sound over several notes. The children will most likely echo you. Continue chanting more complicated sounds. Wait for the children to respond.
