I Can Feel It

Materials

large piece of felt

Velcro dots or strips

variety of textured material pieces (fine sandpaper, velvet, corduroy,

bubble paper, bumpy materials, corrugated cardboard, cotton, gauze

pad, and so on)

Instructions

1. When doing daily routines, use any opportunity to talk to babies. Tell
them everything you are doing.
2. At diaper time, tell the baby that you are going to change his diaper.
Continue talking while you change him. This provides a great
opportunity to share some one-on-one time as well as complete the
immediate task.
3. Talk to the baby in this manner for all routine tasks, and the baby will
begin to associate sounds (words) with what is happening in his
environment.
4. If you make the task fun for the baby, he may be a more willing partner.
