Instructions

1. Cover a can or container with paper and write, "I can" on it.
2. Discuss how the children will use the can. Make it clear that all of the
children will be a part of this positive experience and everyone will be
able to make a contribution to the can.
3. Have strips of paper available for the children to write down what they
have accomplished (something that they could not do before). What
children write will range from simple to complex, depending on the
child's ability, age, and developmental level. For example, "I tied my shoes
today." "I prepared my own snack." "I read a book today."
4. At the end of each month, celebrate the children's accomplishments.
