Instructions

While children are cleaning up and returning to the rug for a large group
activity, try these musical transition activities.
* Play a short snippet of a familiar song. Ask a child
to identify the song and invite everyone to
sing along.
* Ask a child to name a favorite
tune and stand up to lead
the group in singing it.
* Keep a bag with
song titles written on
sturdy cards. Let one
child draw a card
and sing the song
alone, with friends, or
lead the whole group.
* Play part of a melody and ask the children to pat their legs fast or slowly,
depending on the rhythm.
