Instructions

1. Put a ribbon around the mouth of one jar, and put all the buttons in the
other jar. Each time a child transitions smoothly to an activity, follows
directions, or does something nice, they may take a button from one jar and
put it in the jar with the ribbon.
2. All the children cooperate to fill the ribbon jar, and when it is full, have a
button jar party with ice cream, popcorn, or cookies.
3. Reward for:
* Helping with cleanup
* Walking quietly in the hall
* Listening quietly at circle or group time
* Helping to sing songs
* Eating a healthful snack or lunch
* Identifying the correct number or letter
* Using good manners
4. Several children can put buttons in the jar for the same behavior. It should
take about a month to fill the jar and have a party.
Good Manners by Mary Brehm
Using good manners is a nice thing to do
Like remembering to say please, and thank you, too.
I never talk when my mouth is full of food.
Then I pass the dish politely, don't interrupt, or be rude.
I shake someone's hand as I say, "How do you do?"
Won't you please remember to use good manners, too?
