Instructions

Using a cereal box, make a puppet called "Hungry Henry" according to the directions given below. At group time, the children feed him using plastic food. The foods available to the children should include both nutritious and "junk" foods. As each child has a turn to select a food, she predicts whether Henry will like it or not. The puppet keeps nutritious foods in his mouth but "spits out" the junk food.

1. Cut the box in half on three sides but don't cut along the back of the box. On the back of the box, cut two small circle holes for fingers so you can open and close the box like a mouth.

2. Cover the box with construction paper and add decorations to make it into a head with a face the open slit is where the mouth should be. Make sure the mouth is not too close to the bottom since the food pieces must fit in the box.
