yarn

green bulletin board paper

scissors

Instructions

1. Fold green paper over yarn to make a waistband.
2. Draw a line 6" from the waistband. This is a no-cut line.
3. Encourage the child to cut the paper in thin strips several times,
stopping at the no-cut line.
4. Wrap the skirt on the child, and tie with yarn. Make sure the hula skirt is
more like an apron than a skirt so it doesn't rip in the back when the
child sits.
5. Encourage the children to move and dance to "hula" music.
