Variety of different seeds

Instructions

1. Collect a variety of seeds, either as a class or ahead of time.

2. Talk about what makes a weed different from other plants.

3. Ask children if they know how weeds can appear in places where no one has planted them.Explain how seeds travel (in the wind, on animals, in water, etc.).

4. Introduce seeds from the collection and discuss how each might travel. For example, if aseed has burrs, demonstrate how it can attach to clothing or other objects.More to doArt: Paint with weeds (weeds dipped in white paint and brushed onto dark paper make aninteresting winter scene).More science: Go for a nature walk and look for weeds growing in the ground.
