Instructions

1. Talk about the animals that find sheltered places and hibernate during the cold
winter months.
2. Find and cut out pictures of 10 (more or less) animals hibernating in different
places. For example: a turtle or a frog buried in mud, a snake in a hole, a bear
in a cave, or a fox asleep in a den. Tape these pictures at the top of a large
piece of paper or chart paper.
3. Underneath the pictures, list each child's name with a line next to the name.
4. Tape the paper on a wall within the children's reach.
5. Ask the children to count the animals that are hibernating in the pictures and
write their answers on the line next to their name. If the child does not have
the correct answer, help him to arrive at the right answer before writing it
down.
