Instructions

1. On the playground with the children, unroll kite string. Ask how long they think the string is. At 3' intervals, attach a sticker, noting the length. Together, count the number of yards of string.

2. Roll up the string and fly the kite, counting the yards of string as they unfurl.

3. When the kite falls, put the entire length of unfurled string on the ground. Together, count the number of yards "high" the kite flew.

4. With the string unfurled, invite each child to lie on the ground, head to toe, to find the number of children needed to reach as high as the kite.
