Instructions

1. Read Horton Hears a Who. Set up an obstacle course before reading the
story, or have another adult set it up while you read the story.
2. Explain to the children that they are going to go through the obstacle course
to bring an egg to Horton.
3. They go through a forest (the chairs), jump over a log (the rope), cross a
bridge (the balance beam), and crawl through a cave (the tunnel). As you
explain, model the different obstacles. At the end of the obstacle course,
encourage the children to put the egg with Horton in his nest (the bowl).
4. If desired, change the course using other obstacles.
