Instructions

1. Horses are measured by hands. Have the children use this method of measurement to measure one another.

2. Let each child choose a partner (or assign partners).

3. Begin with one of the partners placing the flat side of her hand at the side of her friend's shoe. Then she keeps placing one hand above the other, counting hands until she gets to her partner's head.

4. Ask the children how many hands tall their partners are.

5. Now the partners switch places and the other partner does the measuring. Write down each child's measurement on a piece of chart paper.

6. When all the children are finished, they can compare results.
