Hide the Hippopotamus

Materials

A small stuffed hippo or toy hippo figure

Instructions

1. Show the children how to grate carrots. Explain that the little grater holes are
very sharp, so they must be very careful. You may need to help them at first,
but they will catch on quickly and love doing it.
2. For each child, mix together one half of a grated carrot and about 1/4 cup
chow mien noodles.
3. Ask them to stir in enough mayonnaise to moisten the carrots and noodles.
4. Show the children how to use a spoon to push it down to form a "nest."
5. Then the children can add grapes for their eggs.
