Instructions

Some children do not deal well with transitions (changes) in the classroom.
Here are some ideas to help.
* Tell the children to point to where they will go next.
* Ask the children to walk like animals, walk tall, walk short, and so on, to go
to the next place.
* Ring a bell or make another sound to tell them where to go next.
* Ask a more experienced child to show the new child where to go.
* Let the children have a special place to go to if they do not want to go to
the next activity. This place should be near the new activity, so the
children can hear what the other children are doing. This place could be a
book corner or drawing corner, as long as it is self-directed. They may
rejoin the group at any time.
