Instructions

1. When young children are engaged in playing and a transition time is
nearing, it is important to give them a warning. This can be a simple verbal
reminder or something more interesting such as flicking the lights on and
off or ringing a bell, or using a puppet to tell the children what comes next.
2. Give children a few directions for each transition. Young children need to
know what comes next and they need those gentle reminders every day.
This helps smooth out transitions when everyone, including staff, knows
what to expect next.
