Instructions
1. Divide the children into two groups.
2.The first group of children will sing (in an even beat):
Omph pah to pah
Omph pah to pah
The children will repeat this phrase until the end of the song when they will
yell, "Bubblegum!" On the "Omph," the children bend their knees, and on
the "pah," they stand straight again.
3. While the first group of children is singing the above phrase, the second group
will sing:
This is the beat of the drum,
Sometimes this may sound quite glum.
Maybe you wish we could hum
That this is the beat of the drum.
I'd rather be chewing (both groups of children yell) BUBBLEGUM!
4. If desired, give the children sticks or wooden spoons to tap out the beat. If the
children use sticks or spoon, ask them to sit on the floor.
5. If you have a piano or keyboard, play notes and encourage the children to
sing along. (For example: C G G, C G G, C G G, and so on.)
More to do
Encourage the children to take turns keeping the beat to the song on any musical
instrument (for example, a triangle, finger cymbals, and so on).
