Instructions

1. Read Green Eggs and Ham 2. Ask the children to predict whether green eggs will taste any different from plain scrambled eggs. Write their predictions on chart paper.

3. Preheat the frying pan as you prepare the eggs for scrambling. Crack three of the eggs into the clear glass bowl and beat the eggs. Pour these eggs into the frying pan. Allow the children to watch the changes taking place as the eggs cook. When the eggs are done, place them on one side of the platter to cool.

4. Crack the remaining three eggs into the clear glass bowl. Add green food coloring and mix. Point out the changes in the eggs and the causes for these changes. Scramble the green eggs.

5. When you have cooked both the green and yellow eggs, allow the children to predict again whether or not there will be a difference in taste.

6. Give each child a small portion of each color egg and ask them to taste the eggs one at a time to determine if there is a difference in taste.

7. Check the class predictions.

8. Enjoy the rest of the eggs!More to doMore science: Try other colors in scrambled eggs. * Try coloring other foods, such as rice or mashed potatoes.
