Materials

small photo of each child and teacher

colored construction paper

child-safe scissors

permanent marker

clear contact paper

large craft sticks (1 per child and teacher)

glue

2 large buckets or flower pots (approximately 12" diameter)

sand

Instructions

1. Pour tempera paint into plastic containers and put a plastic spoon into eachone.2. Cut out 8" (22 cm) squares from brown paper grocery bags and give onesquare to each child.3. Ask the children to rub a damp sponge on their squares to moisten them.4. Challenge the children to twist the moistened paper, open them back up, andthen crumple them into a ball.
