Instructions
11. With the children, color a paper plate with designs and patterns (for example,
stripes, dots, rainbows, or flowers) using lots of different colors.
12. Ask them to turn the plate over and color the other side the same way.
13. Pour water into a dishpan. Put each plate into the water for about 30 seconds,
until it is soft enough to mold easily.
14. Help the child form the plate over a soda can, applying equal pressure over
it.
15. Place a rubber band around the plate to hold it to the can.
16. Encourage the child to flare out the edges of the plate.
17. Let it dry for several hours or overnight.
18. Help the child remove the paper plate from the can. The plate will be stiff
and will hold its shape.
19. Punch two holes opposite each other on the flared edges of the plate.
10. Attach a pipe cleaner in the holes to make a handle.
11. Encourage the children to put Easter grass or raffia into their baskets and fill
with whatever they want.
More to do
For Mother's Day, fill the basket with candy hugs, kisses, and a tea bag for "Five
Minutes' Peace." For Easter, fill the basket with Easter candy.
