Materials

Lunch bags

Spools of gift-wrapping ribbon

Scissors

Glue

Purchased pre-made bows

Markers

Stickers

Instructions

What to do
1. Provide each child with a paper
lunch bag.
2. Give them each one ribbon cut
to the length of the bag and
one ribbon cut to the width of
the bag.
3. Have the children glue the
longer ribbons down the middle
of the fronts of their bags, from
top to bottom.
4. Then have them glue the shorter
ribbons across the middle of
the longer ribbons, from side to side.
5. Let each child choose a pre-made bow, and stick it to the bag where the two ribbons meet. The
bags will now look like wrapped presents.
6. Encourage the children to use magic markers and stickers to decorate the bags. Suggest that
they write messages such as "Happy Holidays" or "Happy Mother's Day", depending on the holiday.
They might choose to draw pumpkins, wreaths, dreidels, etc.
7. Let the children use these gift bags to take home gifts they have made for family members.

Blocks: Put wrapping paper, scissors, bows, and cellophane tape in the block area. Encourage the
children to wrap the blocks so they look like presents.
