Instructions

1. Precut straws into 1/2 " to 1" (1 cm to 2 cm) lengths and precut string or pipecleaners into 8" (20 cm) lengths. (If using string, wrap a piece of tape aroundone end to make it easier for sewing through the straw pieces.)2. When using string, tape the untaped end to the table to prevent the strawpieces from falling off of it. When using pipe cleaners, roll the end back tokeep the straws from sliding off.3. Show the children how to slide the straw pieces onto the string or pipecleaner. When the strings or pipe cleaners are almost full, help the childrentie or twist the ends together to complete the circle.4. If desired, put a small piece of tape with the child's name on it around one ofthe straws on the bracelet.More to doFor holiday themes, use colored straws that reflect the holiday. For example, orange and black for Halloween, red and green for Christmas, and so on.Math: If the children are working on simple patterns, give them straws in twodifferent colors and encourage them to put them on the string in an ABABpattern. For example, red, blue, red, blue, and so on.
