Instructions

1. Cut out a large letter from sandpaper for each child.
2. Cut out larger versions of the same letters from construction paper and a few
sheets of white paper.
3. Help the children glue the sandpaper letter to a large, corresponding construction
paper letter.
4. Put the construction paper letter on top of a few sheets of white paper that
have been cut into the same letter shape. Punch a hole through the pages
and tie yarn through it to make a book.
5. Encourage the children to look through magazines and cut out pictures that
start with that letter. Then, they can glue the pictures into their books.
6. Children can also draw pictures that start with that letter.
7. Encourage the children to touch the sandpaper letter of each book. They can
trace it with a finger and feel the way each letter is shaped.
