Materials

Fish bowl Cotton balls

Garden pea seeds Clear plastic wrap

Water Chart paper and marker

Instructions

1. Arrange a layer of cotton balls in the bowl.

2. Wet the cotton thoroughly; all water should be absorbed by the cotton.

3. Sprinkle the seeds over the cotton.

4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it near a window.

5. Watch each day. The seeds will sprout and eventually the vines will completely fill the bowl, creating a miniature jungle. When the peas sprout, you may wish to open the plastic covering and remove a seed to examine it.More to doStorytelling: Read or tell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
