Materials

Plastic containers labels fruit counters sand and water table serving tongs

Instructions

1. In advance, collect six plastic containers and make a separate label (word and picture) for each fruit.

2. Place the containers and the fruit counters in the sand and water table.

3. Encourage the children to pick up the fruit with tongs.

4. Ask them to match fruit counters with the correct fruit container by putting the fruit in the container.More to doMath: Provide real fruit and a balance scale for weighing. Compare the following: Which pieces of fruit are heavier or lighter? How many pieces of this fruit does it take to equal in weight this other piece of fruit?
