Instructions

1. Have each child trace his bare foot on a piece of paper.

2. Demonstrate how to measure the length of their foot from the big toe to the heel using the ruler.

3. After they cut out their foot outlines, ask them to turn their foot outline around and create a creature using crayons. Encourage them to name their creatures. For example, if the child's foot is 4" long, the caption for the picture will be "My 4-Inch Creature."4. Discuss the following:* the need for measuring feet for buying footwear* the need for measuring other body parts, such as height, waist size, and arm size for buying clothes; and circumference of the fingers for buying rings* accessories that fit everyone, such as earrings, buttons, and belts
