chart paper

marker

bucket of foam pieces

sand and water table filled with sand

Instructions

1. Before the activity, make a large grid on chart paper by drawing squares large
enough to fit the foam shapes. Trace all the foam pieces on the squares of the
grid.
2. Hide a few foam pieces in the sand.
3. Invite one child at a time to hunt for the pieces.
4. When the child finds a piece, help her put the piece on the grid in the proper
square.
5. After the child finds all the pieces, ask her to hide the pieces in the sand for
another child to find.
