1. Say the following poems with the children.
Little Flowers (author unknown)
The sun comes out and shines so bright
And then we have a shower.
The little bud pushes with all its might
And soon we have a flower.
Flowers in the garden on their tall stems sway
I think I hear them whisper, "What a lovely day."
Little Crocus by Mary Brehm
Little crocus, little crocus,
I watch for you each spring
To pop your head out of the soil
As if you're going to sing.
At first I see a tip of green
And then the rest of you.
What color will you be
When your blossom is in view?
You might be striped or yellow,
Lavender or white.
In the daytime you are lovely,
At night you close up tight.
Little crocus you are beautiful
For everyone to see.
But I think you are special
Because you're short like me.
