Instructions

What to do
1. Ahead of time, cut 2" (5 cm) wide strips of construction paper to form a headband for each
child. Cut an assortment of flower shapes for decorating the headbands.
2. Wrap the strips of paper around each child's head, forming a headband. Staple the strips
together.
3. Encourage the children to cut out their own flower and leaf shapes from construction paper,
adding to the assortment you have cut in advance.
4. When the headbands are made, have the children glue the flowers and leaves to them. Attach
stickers of butterflies and ladybugs, if desired.
More to do
More art: Cut the flower and leaf shapes from scraps of wrapping paper or greeting cards for a
colorful effect. Substitute geometric shapes, numbers, letters, dinosaurs, or farm animals for the
flowers, adapting the project to your subject or theme.
