plastic spider rings (optional)
tissue

Instructions

* Halloween is celebrated on October 31st.

  1. 1. If possible, purchase plastic spider rings from a party store or dollar store.
    If spider rings are not available, you can do this fingerplay without them.
    Give each child five plastic spider rings and a tissue.
  2. Recite the following rhyme with the children, inviting them to act out the appropriate gestures.
    Five little spiders came in the door, One stopped to spin a web, and then there were four. (hold up five fingers, then four)
    Four little spiders climbing up a tree, One stayed to play on a leaf, and then there were three. (hold up three fingers)
    Three little spiders help to stir the brew, One fell in then there were two. (hold up two fingers)
    Two little spiders playing in the sun, One went to look for shade, and then there was one. (hold up one finger)
    One little spider is really quite a sight, (put tissue over spider)
    Dressed in his costume on Halloween night.
    Boo!
