Instructions
When you have a few extra moments during the day, say the following poem.
Five little snakes
Went slithering in the sand.
One caught a fly and said,
"I'm just grand!"
Fingerplays, Songs, and Poems
Four little snakes went Two little snakes said
Curling round and round. "Just hear my hissing sound!"
One went in a hole One slithered away
Way deep down in the ground. And no more could be found
Three little snakes One little snake
Went out to look for lunch. As alone as he could be
One found some bugs and beetles and Said, "Come back my brothers
Gulp, crunch, crunch! And play with me!"
Instructions
1. Make your own sight word wheel game to keep children busy during
transition and waiting times.
2. Make an 8 1/2 " x 5" shape from paper, and cut a 1" x 1" area from the middle of
each 5" side. Make two 5" diameter circle "wheels" from paper (see page 64).
3. Attach the pictures on one wheel and write words on the other so that they
will appear right-side-up in the windows as the children turn the wheels.
4. Attach the wheels to the back with the brads so that the pictures are
exposed one at a time as the wheel is turned.
5. The child turns the left and right wheels and matches the sight words to
their picture.
