Instructions
1. Cut out apples from red tagboard, one for each child.
2. Glue each apple to a craft stick and write a numeral from 1 to 5 on each apple. For example, if there are 20 children in the class, make four apples with each numeral.
3. Give each child an apple.
4. Have all the children with the numeral 1 apples stand together in a small group, the children with the numeral 2 apples stand together, and so on.
5. Invite the children recite the following poem.Five Little ApplesFive little apples hanging on a tree,The juiciest apples you ever did see.The wind came past and gave an angry frown.And one little apple came tumbling down.
6. At the end of the poem, ask the group of children holding the numeral 5 apple cutouts to sit down.
7. Repeat the poem, inserting the numbers four, three, two, and one until all the children are sitting down.
